Building the roads that lead to change

Turnpike Productions is a performing arts production company and agency built on a simple principle: the sector needs better infrastructure, not more barriers.

We work with independent performance artists, theatre makers, musicians and arts organisations whose work drives social change. We aim to democratise access to the arts, amplifying voices that need to be heard, and challenging perspectives. Our mission is building sustainable pathways: creating the roads that lead to change rather than just facilitating individual journeys.

Our Mission

The performing arts has the power to create change when it is accessible, reaches the communities who need it most, and supports sustainable careers for artists. That’s the work we’re building.

Founded by Darren Walter, Turnpike Productions emerged from years of working across the theatre and performing arts sector and recognising that exceptional artists were struggling not because their work lacked quality, but because the infrastructure to support it didn't exist. We built Turnpike Productions to create that infrastructure.

Our Method

We manage touring productions, develop educational and venue partnerships, curate festivals and support grant applications. Our portfolio spans physical theatre, circus, comedy, work for children and families, live music and socially engaged performance: diverse in form but united by social purpose.

We work with venues across the UK, from arts centres and festivals to educational institutions where curriculum-connected performance can have lasting impact. Our approach prioritises genuine partnership, building long-term relationships that serve artists, venues, and communities.
